Erin Thompson, Institutional Performance

Background:

Although both of my parents are from the mid-west, they transplanted to Georgia just long enough to give birth to me, raise me in Lawrenceville/Snellville and send me to the University of Georgia in Athens. At UGA I majored in Psychology and minored in Anthropology; with no particular career in mind, just and interest in the subjects. I held restaurant and retail jobs during high-school and college. Since college I've been working at a manufacturing company as the ISO Coordinator and Management Representative. Although it is a job I never imagined, it seems as if it were made for me!

What attracted you to The Mountain?

The Mountain has always been, to me, a place of great comfort. I've grown up here. One of my youngest memories is of a weekend trip (Lobsterfest) to The Mountain with my parents when I was 5 years old. (I remember the adults having a lively game of Trivial Pursuit in the old lodge. At the time, I couldn't understand what all the ruckus was about.) I started to come to summer camp in second grade, attending almost every summer after, including the ASCENDER program and a Leadership School program. I also attended as many weekend CONs as I could. I worked two summers as a camp counselor. I met, fell in love with, and married my husband here at The Mountain. I continue to grow as I come here for volunteer work and retreat. It is home to me.

What would you like to accomplish in your Board role?

To do everything I can to secure the future of The Mountain; to aid others in experiencing everything that this magical place has to offer.
