Education and Professional Experience

 
Board Chair: Trudy Deyle – Tallahassee, FL. BA from Vassar College and a MPA (Masters of Public Administration), Syracuse University.   Trudy worked in program evaluation and administration in city government. She has held congregational leadership positions for new building, capital campaign, personnel, membership, and board president.

Board Leadership Team

Chair: Beverly Cree – Wilmington, NC.  MA in Clinical Psychology, Morehead State University;  MEd in Education: Curriculum and Instruction Supervision, UNC-Wilmington;  PhD in Child Development, UNC-Greensboro. Work experience includes teaching young children, parent and teacher training, and program management.

Colin Kirkman – Atlanta, GA.  BA in American Studies, Grinnell College;   CPRP – Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner; QMRP – Qualified Mental Retardation Professional.  Work in the field of mental health includes training, management, and resource development; as well as volunteer fundraising and grant writing.

Institutional Advancement Team

Chair: Charles Lee – Charlotte, NC and Sarasota, FL.  B.S. from UNC-Chapel Hill and M.S. in Public Health Administration, UNC-Chapel Hill.  Charles has been a Senior Executive Manager with top-level not-for-profits. He worked with local, regional and national organizations to achieve strategically planned goals and objectives.

Lem Arnold – Atlanta, GA.  B.S. in Life Sciences from MIT; M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston; Residency in Pediatrics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He is a Pediatrician with The Southeast Permanente Medical Group (Kaiser Permamente), where he has held administrative positions.

Laird Parry – Sandpoint, ID.  B.S.. UC- Davis; M.S. Stanford University.  As a Mechanical Engineer, Laird has  designed commercial fishing boats, performed research in solar and geothermal energy, developed and commercialized remotely controlled tunneling machines and computerized waterjet cutting machines. 

Institutional  Performance Team

Chair: Marty Beech – Tallahassee, FL.  MEd in Reading Specialization, Kent State;  PhD in Special Education and Language Development, Kent State.  Marty is a Research Associate at the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University.  Her career has involved large-scale educational development, reform initiatives and teacher training. 

Patrick Pohl – Lexington, KY.  BA in Secondary Education.The University of Evansville. He has worked as a corporate trainer and is now a Territory Manager for Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America.  Patrick is a certified corporate trainer for Wilson Learning Social Styles and Strengths Deployment Inventory. 

Planning and Finance Team

Chair: Bruce Kirkman – Brevard, NC.  BS in Industrial Management, University of Tennessee; MBA, Stanford University.  Bruce worked as a business executive in The Coca-Cola Company, principally in Atlanta. Bruce and his wife, Sandy, were founding Life Members of The Mountain, and their daughters were involved in MountainCamp.

Paul Clipp – Clemson, SC.  BS in Industrial Engineering, Kettering University; MBA, Harvard Business School.  Paul works as a consultant and coach of business leaders. He has helped hundreds of organizations establish exceptional results through strong leadership. He focuses on achieving the best from people by holding them accountable.

Ed Mangiafico, Jr.–Atlanta GA.  A.B., Georgia State University;  J.D., Emory University School of Law.   Atlanta attorney, who is a partner in Ragsdale, Beals, Seigler, Patterson & Gray, LLP.  Ed specializes in the mediation, arbitration and litigation of tort, commercial and insurance disputes, both as an advocate and as a neutral.

Financial Advisor: Jeannette Manning – Charlotte, NC and Brandon, FL. BS in Accounting, Clemson University;  MBA business Administration, Queens; CPA.  Jeannette worked in a Big-Eight CPA firm, and then served Queens University of Charlotte as controller and budget director.  She served as Mountain Financial Advisor ten years ago.
 

Recording Secretary: Nancy Delux—Charlotte, NC.  BS in Elementary and Special Education, The State University of NY-Buffalo; and training as a paralegal.  Nancy has worked as a credit and housing counselor for the United Family Services, a Charlotte area nonprofit family service agency.
